Heavy Transport Intelligence — The Weekly
Issue Nº 01 — May 7, 2026
This Week's Lead
17,000 POIs. 4,700 km. 6.5 days. One crew.
The Thacker Pass dual-lane survey just wrapped. A single SolTec crew captured 530 bridges, 3,631 culverts, and 299 intersections across the full 4,700 km corridor — 720 km of survey-grade data per day, every day. Inside this issue: the Field Capture App that just shipped for pilot-car crews, ProfilingPRO graduating to beta after 2,500 km of field validation, where SweptPRO and LoadPRO are in the build — and how Convoy Guardian kept the whole convoy in sync without a single bar of cell signal.
A note from the founder · Issue Nº 01
Why I'm writing to you
You're reading this because we've worked together, or because you've signed up to follow what we're building at SolTec. Either way — thank you. You're one of the people whose feedback, field stories, and patience have shaped what RoadScope, MeasurePRO, and ProfilingPRO are today, and what they'll become tomorrow.
The Weekly is how I'll be keeping you in the loop from now on. Every issue covers what shipped, what's coming, a field-tested tip, and — when it matters — a heads-up on something you may need to act on (like this week's MeasurePRO upgrade). The goal is simple: no fluff, no marketing fog. Just the kind of update you'd want from a partner who's also out in the field.
A small favour, while I have your attention: if you've got a large survey coming up — a long corridor, a multi-day move, a tight timeline — let us know in advance. It takes 30 seconds to drop us a line, and it lets us pre-position support, double-check your kit, and be on standby if anything needs a fast hand. We'd much rather help you before the truck rolls than scramble while it's moving.
And finally — please don't unsubscribe. This isn't a marketing list. There's no upsell campaign hiding behind it. Each issue carries information you'll genuinely want: critical updates, real fixes, what your peers are doing in the field. If the cadence ever feels wrong, tell me directly — I'll adjust before I lose you.
You're not just a customer. You're an early adopter of a small Quebec company trying to build the best OS/OW toolkit in the industry. Every survey you run on our gear, every bug you flag, every “hey, what if it could…” you send us — that's what gets the next version shipped. Thank you for backing us. We're building this for you, and with you.

▌ In this issue
- 00A note from the founder — welcome to The Weekly
- 01Thacker Pass: 17,000 POIs in 6.5 days
- 02RoadScope ships the Field Capture App
- 03What's new: MeasurePRO, LoadPRO, SweptPRO, Convoy Guardian, ProfilingPRO
- 04Quick Tip: Tag in the field, filter in the office
- 05On the Bench: 3 RoadScope features in the next 30 days
Field Capture App is live at /fieldapp — built for the pilot car, not the desk
Pilot-car crews told us the same thing every survey: the regular mobile map is too dense to use while driving. The Field Capture App strips it back to one screen of huge, high-contrast buttons wired to a physical touch pole on the front bumper, so a single bump on a low wire or a tight curb is captured as a geo-tagged POI in under a second. Captures push back to the survey in real time, so the planner at the office sees the route fill in as the truck drives it.
What's new:
- New driving-mode capture screen at /fieldapp with phone-sized, glove-friendly controls (no navigation UI, no voice — capture only)
- Critical Turns can now be split into named sections in the PDF (e.g. "Day 1 — Northbound", "Restricted clearance corridor") with drag-and-drop between groups
- Table of Occurrences now supports native spell-check and Cmd/Ctrl + B for bold inside cells, with proper Undo/Redo
- Polish: shared-map menus no longer slip behind the map on mobile; long-route exports get an extended timeout so big surveys finish cleanly
17,000 POIs. 6.5 days. One app.
The Thacker Pass survey proved it: 4,700+ km, 17,000+ data points, 530 bridges, 3,631 culverts, 299 intersections — captured by a single crew in 6.5 days. That's 720+ km per day. MeasurePRO doesn't slow you down. It keeps up.
What's new:
- Live Support — RoadScope admins see your screen via WebRTC. Troubleshooting happens now, not after the job.
- POI Safety Badges — tag Danger, Work Required, or Information in the field. Office filters by risk; critical items surface first.
- 7-day free trial — install, launch, survey. No codes, no accounts.
- Offline license — no internet? No problem. LicensePRO keys work anywhere, anytime.
- Emergency Cache Clear — one button in Settings. Fixes sync issues without reinstalling.
Update to MeasurePRO 16.1.101 — read this before you install
If MeasurePRO has been feeling sluggish or unresponsive on your PC, this is the fix. Two leftover folders from older versions cause the issue, and Windows Uninstall doesn't remove them — so simply installing on top will not solve it. Follow these steps in order:
- Uninstall the version of MeasurePRO currently on your PC (Windows Settings → Apps → MeasurePRO → Uninstall).
- Manually delete these two folders (the uninstaller leaves them behind, and they are what cause the freezing):
C:\Users\YOUR_USER_NAME\AppData\Local\measurepro-desktop-updaterC:\Users\YOUR_USER_NAME\AppData\Roaming\measurepro-desktop - Reinstall the latest version of MeasurePRO. Reply to this email if you need the installer.
You can also try the in-app update — but the two folders above must still be deleted manually first, otherwise the update won't fix the freezing. Stuck? Reply to this email and we'll help.
The axle-load calculator your whole team can actually use
LoadPRO is the next addition to the SolTec stack: an axle-load calculator built so any employee can run a configuration — from the office, from the field, even from the cab of the truck. Build your equipment library directly from CAD drawings, run a load distribution in seconds, and stop bottlenecking permits behind a single specialist.
Where we're at:
- ~35% of the codebase complete
- First closed beta is a few weeks away
- Equipment import from CAD drawings is the cornerstone — we want your library to mirror your real fleet, not a generic one
Run swept-path analysis from the cab — drone shot to turning radius in minutes
SweptPRO's early prototype was used in the field during the Thacker Pass survey. It's not done yet — there's real work left before public beta this fall — but the differentiator is already clear. SweptPRO runs on the rugged tablet that ships with the MeasurePRO kit, which means a tight intersection can be drone-shot, imported, and turning-radius checked on-site, without waiting for the office.
Where we're at:
- Early prototype tested live on the Thacker Pass corridor
- Public beta planned for fall 2026
- Built to run on the same rugged tablet your crew already uses for MeasurePRO — no second device, no second account
No cell. No internet. Just a 10–20 km private mesh keeping the convoy in sync.
Dual-lane escort. A 20-foot-wide, 14′5″-tall load rolling through 37 railroad crossings and 43 traffic lights. Convoy Guardian doesn’t depend on cell coverage or internet — every module runs on a private mesh network with reach of 10–20 km between vehicles. The lead escort measures, the fleet sees the same numbers in real time. No radio chatter. No silent failures. No surprises.
What's new:
- Private mesh, no infrastructure — works in dead zones, work sites, mountain passes; 10–20 km between vehicles
- Auto-triggered alerts — when the lead system raises a warning or critical alert, every driver hears it instantly. Nothing to push, nothing to miss.
- One-button emergency stop — any module can trigger it. Sound + visual strobe on every device leaves no room for "I didn’t see it."
- QR code join — scan, connect, roll. New escorts onboard in seconds.
- Black box logging — every event, every alert, every stop exported to CSV for audits
2,500 km of field testing. Beta drops in two weeks.
ProfilingPRO logged 2,500 km on the Thacker Pass corridor — across vertical curves, steep grades, long-haul stretches, weather changes — and held up. v1.3.0 nailed the one thing that mattered most: zero-freeze recording. Record for hours, no crashes, no lost data. The public beta is rolling out in about two weeks — download link and install instructions will land in your inbox the moment it’s ready.
What's new:
- Zero-freeze recording — critical performance overhaul. Long sessions just work.
- Wind blade & cargo scraping detection — convex and concave curvature risk flagged in real-time
- Audio watchdog — grade alarms, RTK warnings, connection alerts. Eyes on the road, ears on the data.
- Live map on the GNSS dashboard — real-time position and recorded track on OpenStreetMap, with grade-colored route overlay
- Color-coded elevation profiles — 0% to 14%+ in distinct bands. Steep grades scream at you.
No action needed — you'll receive the beta download link and install instructions by email when it's ready.
Tag it in the field. Filter it in the office. Fix it before the load moves.
On the Thacker Pass survey, 17,000+ POIs were recorded in 6.5 days. Imagine sorting that manually. Instead: tag critical points as Danger or Work Required using MeasurePRO's badge system. When RoadScope syncs, your office filters by badge — Danger zones get eyes first, Work Required goes to maintenance, Information stays as context. Three taps per POI. Zero hours sorting.
